Computer Systems: CompTIA A+ Aligned
A hands-on Computer Systems course covering PC hardware, mobile devices, printers, networking, virtualization, operating systems, security, troubleshooting, and professional IT support. The course is aligned to the current CompTIA A+ Core 1 (220-1201) and Core 2 (220-1202) knowledge and skill objectives while remaining a high-school instructional course rather than an official CompTIA training product.
Course overview
This 18-unit high-school computer-support course is aligned to current CompTIA A+ Core 1 (`220-1201`) and Core 2 (`220-1202`) objectives. It teaches hardware, mobile devices, printers, networking, virtualization, operating systems, security, troubleshooting, and professional support through evidence-first technician work. It is aligned to—not endorsed by—CompTIA and does not use proprietary exam questions.
Audience and pace

Grades 9–12. The scheduled course runs for 18 units at 210 instructional minutes per unit, using five 42-minute lessons per unit.
What you will learn
- Identify, configure, support, and troubleshoot computer systems with controlled evidence rather than random part swapping.
- Explain hardware, networks, operating systems, security, and operations as connected support boundaries.
- Produce professional tickets, plans, recovery records, verification evidence, and technical explanations.
Course structure
The course covers technician foundations and PC hardware; mobile/printer/peripheral systems; networking; virtualization and operating systems; security and software troubleshooting; then operations, integration, and capstone service work.
Learning evidence and assessment
Learners create component and compatibility records, service tickets, network plans, configuration decisions, troubleshooting logs, operational documentation, and technician defenses. Course materials include repository-owned visuals, local interactions, vocabulary support, and deterministic Mr.R0b0T teaching scripts; no paid or remote AI service is required.
Expectations and boundaries
Follow ESD, electrical, battery, data, privacy, authorization, and documentation rules. Do not open PSUs, work on personal devices, modify managed infrastructure, use real credentials, run destructive recovery steps, or claim a fault without evidence. Current A+ objectives govern coverage; outside references remain attributed.
Capstone
The Technician Service Challenge supports the fictional Harborview Community Learning Lab through intake, configuration, at least three cross-domain incidents, recovery/security verification, and a final service packet and briefing.
Access and support
The course reader, visuals, local interactions, vocabulary center, and supplied evidence support the learner path. Hardware activities have safe observation, simulation, or documented-analysis alternatives where needed.
