Rocket League Week 9: Rotation and Team Roles

Rocket League roles change constantly. Teams often describe first man, second man, and third man. First man pressures the ball. Second man supports the play. Third man protects against the counterattack.

Rotation Discipline

Good rotation creates spacing and coverage. Poor rotation creates double commits, empty nets, and teammates fighting for the same touch. Players must know when to challenge, support, fake, or leave.

Worked Example

Two players attack the same corner ball while the third player moves too far forward. The opponent clears over everyone. The repair is clear spacing: first man challenges, second waits for the outcome, third protects midfield or back post.

Evidence Task

Draw a three-player rotation diagram for an offensive push and defensive recovery. Label first, second, and third responsibilities.

Review Check

A rotation plan works when every player knows who pressures, who supports, and who protects.
