Dota 2 Week 9: Roles and Farm Priority

Dota roles are commonly numbered one through five. Position 1 usually receives highest farm priority. Position 2 controls mid tempo. Position 3 pressures and disrupts. Position 4 creates movement and utility. Position 5 protects, wards, and enables the team.

Role Discipline

A team fails when farm priority and responsibilities are unclear. If supports take unsafe farm from cores, key items are delayed. If cores never join when their spike arrives, supports' map work is wasted.

Worked Example

The carry is close to a major item, but the team forces a low-value fight. The better call is to protect vision, avoid the fight, and group after the item timing.
