Valorant Week 9: Roles and Team Responsibilities

Valorant roles exist because one player cannot safely do every job. Duelists create pressure and entry timing. Initiators gather information and disrupt defenders. Controllers shape sightlines. Sentinels hold space, protect flanks, and slow pushes. The in-game leader coordinates decisions across those roles.

Role Conflict

Teams struggle when everyone wants the same job. If three players chase entry and nobody protects flank or manages smokes, the attack becomes fragile. Role discipline does not mean passive play. It means each player knows what value they are expected to create.

Worked Example

On attack, the controller smokes late, the duelist enters alone, and the sentinel watches the same angle as the initiator. The team loses because roles overlapped and one responsibility was missing. The repair is to assign timing: initiator info first, controller smoke second, duelist entry third, sentinel flank watch throughout.

Evidence Task

Build a five-player role chart for one site execute. Include each agent role, first responsibility, backup responsibility, and one phrase they should call.

Review Check

A role plan is useful when every player owns a different piece of the round.
