Checkpoint 2: Safe Lab Competency
Use the Week 5 VM/simulation lab as evidence that you can work inside a controlled cybersecurity boundary.
Submit
Your lab record must include:
- preflight user, host, working directory, and expected state;
- original baseline configuration;
- the one authorized configuration change;
- before/after observations;
- a security-versus-availability/usability trade-off;
- recovery to the original baseline;
- verification that recovery actually succeeded;
- the isolation review;
- one limitation explaining what this classroom simulation does not prove about a production system.

Answer in 3-5 sentences:
What evidence proves that your experiment changed only the approved condition and ended in a trusted state?
Scoring
This is a teacher-reviewed mastery checkpoint.
The common GSC I rubric scores five areas from 0-4:
- technical accuracy
- evidence quality and reproducibility
- reasoning and trade-offs
- safety and authorization
- communication
Maximum: 20 points.
The Robotnix mastery target is 15/20 or higher with no criterion below 2. If the evidence is incomplete or a claim reaches beyond what the evidence supports, revise and resubmit.
