Week 04 · reflection

Can I Actually Sustain This?

This week was not really about:

being healthy.

That is too vague.

We were solving a more specific problem.

How do I participate in esports without designing the rest of my life around endless screen time?

That is harder.

Esports can be competitive, social, fun, demanding, frustrating, and exciting.

Sometimes one more game turns into:

why is it 1:14 AM?

Your plan is a hypothesis

That is how I want you to think about it.

You built a plan. You do not actually know whether it works yet.

PLAN

TRY IT

OBSERVE

ADJUST

That is not failure. That is how systems improve.

Reflection prompt

Choose one part of your Personal Wellness Plan that you think will be difficult to sustain.

Then answer:

What is most likely to break this part of my plan, what evidence would tell me it is breaking, and what adjustment could I make without abandoning the entire routine?

Write 150-200 words.

Your response needs four things

1. The habit or boundary

Be specific.

Example:

Ending competitive games by a specific time on school nights.

2. The likely failure

Example:

A losing match makes me want to queue again because I do not want to end the session on a loss.

3. Evidence

What would tell you the plan is failing?

Example:

My planned stopping time keeps moving later several nights in the same week.

That is observable.

4. Adjustment

Do not say "try harder." That is not a system.

Maybe:

Stop starting new competitive matches 30 minutes before the boundary so an unexpectedly long match does not automatically push the schedule later.

Now you changed the system.

Do not write a confession

You are not required to disclose medical conditions, diagnoses, mental-health information, medication, body weight, private family circumstances, or anything else you do not want shared.

Use whatever level of personal detail is appropriate. You can also discuss a fictional version of your plan if your instructor approves it.

Final question

Finish with one sentence:

For me, sustainable participation means...

There is not one correct answer. But after this week, your answer should be more interesting than "taking breaks."

Week 04 complete

Week 01:

Esports is bigger than the game.

Week 02:

Culture is built through repeated behavior.

Week 03:

Trust grows when teammates are reliable.

Week 04:

Performance falls apart when the routine supporting it falls apart.

Now we can move into something else esports teams constantly deal with: communication under real competitive pressure, conflict, and decision-making when everybody has different information.
