Did It Actually Work?

Week 06 Reflection: Did It Actually Work?

You made something.

Then you tried to break it.

Hopefully, the test found something.

The weakest possible Week 06 project would be:

Our first idea was perfect and testing taught us nothing.

Design improves when reality disagrees with the plan.

Your mistake is evidence

Think about your Version 1 routine.

Some assumption probably failed.

Maybe you assumed people would know the vocabulary. Maybe you assumed everyone would remember the order. Maybe you assumed the captain would always be present. Maybe you assumed three minutes was enough. Maybe you thought a step was obvious.

Good.

That failure gave you information.

Reflection prompt

Write 150 to 200 words answering:

What did your group believe would work in Version 1, what actually happened during testing, and how did the evidence change your final routine?

Your response needs:

1. Original assumption

What did you believe?

2. Evidence

What actually happened?

3. Revision

What changed?

4. Reasoning

Why should the change make the routine more useful or inclusive?

Example structure

Assumption

We assumed everyone would remember the five pre-match steps after hearing them once.

Evidence

During testing, two students asked what came next and one step was skipped.

Revision

We added a short visible checklist beside the stations.

Reasoning

The routine no longer depends entirely on remembering verbal instructions, so players can recover if they miss or forget a step.

That is design reasoning.

The second question

Then answer:

What could still break Version 2?

Version 2 is not perfect either.

Maybe the checklist disappears, the backup is absent, time changes, the routine becomes stale, the team stops taking it seriously, or the original problem changes.

Systems need maintenance.

Alternative submission

With instructor approval, submit a 60 to 90 second recorded explanation using your prototype and testing evidence.

Same requirements.

Final sentence

Finish:

Team building becomes useful when...

Do not write, "everyone works together."

Go one layer deeper.

Week 06 complete

Week 01:

Esports is bigger than the game.

Week 02:

Culture comes from repeated behavior.

Week 03:

Trust comes from reliable roles.

Week 04:

Participation needs a sustainable routine.

Week 05:

Improvement needs deliberate practice and feedback.

Week 06:

Teamwork gets stronger when we design, test, and improve the systems around it.

Next, we zoom back out to the larger esports ecosystem: games, publishers, leagues, platforms, audiences, organizations, money, media, and careers.
