Week 08 · reflection

Reflection - Find the Turning Point

Conflicts feel messy from the inside.

One person reacts, someone interrupts, old frustration appears, and suddenly nobody remembers the original problem.

When you slow it down, you can usually find the exact moment where the interaction changed direction.

That is your target this week.

Choose one roleplay

Select the scenario where the outcome changed the most between Round 1 and Round 2.

Find the turning point

Turning points can include:

  • a personal attack
  • a clarifying question
  • a pause
  • a replay check
  • a channel change
  • a boundary statement
  • an official escalation

Name the exact statement or action.

Reflection prompt (150-200 words)

What was the turning point in one Week 08 conflict scenario, how did that decision change what happened next, and what would you do differently if the same type of conflict appeared on a real esports team?

Your response must include:

  1. Original problem: what started the conflict?
  2. Turning point: what exact action changed direction?
  3. Outcome: did conflict escalate or become more solvable?
  4. Alternative: what could someone do differently next time?
  5. Playbook connection: which Conflict Response Playbook rule applies?

Quality check

Avoid generic responses such as, People should communicate better.

Use mechanism-level analysis:

  • what happened
  • which decision changed it
  • why outcome shifted

Final distinction

A conflict can end without being solved.

Silence is not automatic resolution.

Ask:

Did the original problem actually change?

If not, the conflict is likely to return.

Final sentence

Finish with:

Conflict becomes easier to solve when...

Week 08 closeout

Week 02 asked what behavior builds culture.

Week 07 asked whether information moved into shared action.

Week 08 asks what happens when goals diverge, assumptions multiply, and emotion rises.

This week closes that loop with a usable conflict-response system.
