Week 01: Competition Has a System
The first week is about the machinery behind a reliable match. We will not require a game client, a player account, or a video assignment. Instead, we will inspect how rules, people, records, and decisions turn an activity into a competition worth trusting.
| Sequence | Purpose | Evidence you keep |
|---|---|---|
| Lesson 1 | Identify the layers of a competition | Four-layer system note |
| Lesson 2 | Connect esports history to system changes | Evidence-backed timeline claim |
| Lesson 3 | Apply the model to a small classroom event | Event system card |
| Reflection | Explain what makes a result credible | 1–2 paragraphs for the instructor |
Week vocabulary
Publisher, tournament organizer, roster, competitive integrity, escalation path. Do not memorize the list and call it done. Use the words to explain who can make a decision and why a result should be believed.
Decision Lens
Observe what is documented. Predict what could go wrong. Prove the decision with a rule or record.
Professional standard
If a team cannot explain the win condition, the rule owner, and the dispute path before an event begins, the event is not ready.
