Governance and Conduct

Governance is the system that keeps a program fair, safe, and usable. It includes rules, decision rights, conduct expectations, escalation paths, and documentation.

Why Governance Matters

Without governance, teams improvise when conflict appears. That usually means inconsistent consequences, unclear authority, and avoidable drama. Governance does not need to be complicated. It needs to be visible.

Worked Example

A student disputes a match result. A weak program argues in chat. A stronger program has a result-reporting rule, a dispute window, an evidence requirement, and one person responsible for final review.

Artifact: Conduct and Escalation Rule

Write one rule for respectful conduct and one rule for handling disputes. Include who receives the report and what evidence is needed.

Common Failure

Rules that no one can enforce are decoration. Keep them realistic.
