A defense is not a sales pitch. It is a clear explanation of decisions, tradeoffs, evidence, and revisions. Strong teams can explain why they chose one path and what risk they accepted.

Defense Structure

Use this structure: decision, evidence, tradeoff, risk control, revision. This shows that the team thought like operators, not just fans.

Worked Example

Decision: use a four-team bracket instead of an eight-team bracket. Evidence: class time allows two rounds with setup and review. Tradeoff: fewer participants. Risk control: rotate production and analysis roles for non-players. Revision: expand only if timing data proves the event can support it.

Common Failure

Do not hide weaknesses. Acknowledging a limitation makes the defense stronger when the response is realistic.
