Week 17 · lesson

Production Readiness

Production is the viewer-facing layer of an esports event. It includes audio, video, overlays, commentary, scene changes, recording, and timing. Even a small classroom event benefits from a checklist.

Production Checklist

A readiness check should cover microphone levels, display capture, scoreboard or bracket visibility, scene transitions, recording location, file names, and backup plan. The goal is not professional broadcast polish. The goal is a watchable and documented event.

Worked Example

A stream starts with no audio because nobody tested the microphone after changing computers. A production checklist would catch this before the event begins.

Artifact: Production Checklist

Create a ten-item checklist. Mark each item as pre-event, live-event, or post-event.

Common Failure

Do not test production for the first time when the audience arrives.

Check

The checklist is ready when another student can run it without guessing.
