Week 12 · lesson
Match Plan Lab
Build a match plan that can survive failure.
Required Parts
Your plan must include:
- one opening strategy
- two adaptation triggers
- one counterplay note
- one review question
Inspect a Completed Match Plan
This game-neutral model shows how a plan can change because of evidence rather than frustration.
| Plan element | Completed example |
|---|---|
| Opening strategy | Start on the covered route and send the information player to confirm center before committing. |
| Adaptation trigger 1 | If center is controlled before the first attempt, use the outside route and wait for a confirmed opening. |
| Adaptation trigger 2 | If voice chat contains overlapping calls, the caller names the next objective and each player gives only location or status. |
| Counterplay note | Expect the opponent to protect center after the outside route succeeds; do not repeat the same timing without new information. |
| Review question | Did the information rule change the route before the team committed resources? |
Scenario
Your team loses the opening attempt twice. The opponent is controlling the center faster than expected, and your comms are becoming crowded.
Update the plan. Do not write "try harder." State the new route, the new information rule, and the player responsible for calling the change.
Quality Bar
A strong match plan limits improvisation without killing flexibility. The team should know the first plan and the conditions that allow it to change.
