Week 07 · overview

Week 7: Network Hardware, Media, and IP Foundations

210 instructional minutes | five 42-minute lessons

This week builds the physical and addressing foundation for network support: device roles, internet edge devices, copper/fiber/coax, connectors, IPv4/IPv6, and SOHO topology decisions.

Lesson sequence

  1. Network Hardware and Internet Edge Devices
  2. Copper, Fiber, Coax, and Connector Standards
  3. IPv4, IPv6, Gateways, and Addressing Modes
  4. Internet and Network Types SOHO Lab
  5. Local Network Fault Isolation

Evidence you will produce

  • network hardware role map;
  • cable/media/connector selection record;
  • IPv4/IPv6 addressing map;
  • SOHO topology design;
  • local network fault-isolation ticket.
