Lesson 5: Network Incident Defense

Mixed scenario set
Your instructor assigns one scenario without telling you which objective produced it:
- intermittent Wi-Fi;
- slow network speed;
- limited connectivity;
- jitter / poor VoIP;
- port flapping;
- high latency;
- external interference;
- authentication failure;
- intermittent internet;
- DHCP/APIPA;
- DNS failure;
- wrong gateway;
- damaged/incorrect cable path.
Choose the tool/evidence that fits the symptom. A cable tester, Wi-Fi analyzer, toner probe, loopback tool, command output, or network tap concept is useful only when it addresses the current boundary.

A total-connectivity failure is weak. The evidence points toward a real-time performance problem such as jitter/latency along the path.

- Is the symptom loss of connectivity, intermittent behavior, authentication failure, or degraded performance?
- What proves the repair worked?
